Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti could be prepared to leave the Spanish capital to take over from David Moyes at Old Trafford according to reports.

Renowned journalist Duncan Castles writes that the Italian is keen on a return to the Premier League and it is understood that he could be prepared to leave Madrid in the summer.

Ancelotti's position at Madrid is uncertain and despite winning the Copa Del Rey, soures suggest that he will need to win the La Liga title or the Champions League to maintain his current position.

Asked about the possibility of taking the United job last week, Ancelotti said that he was “happy” in Madrid and “lucky to work in the best team in the world,” yet inserted an important caveat in stating that “my place – in this moment – is here.”

Louis van Gaal remains the firm favourite to land the managerial role at Manchester United.
