Captain William Porterfield powered Ireland to a 10-wicket triumph over Hong Kong in their opening ICC World Twenty20 warm-up fixture at picturesque Dharamsala.

Ireland had an instant foothold, at the Himalayan venue, thanks to Tim Murtagh's two wickets in three balls in the first over of the match.

Then, after Hong Kong had recovered from six for three to 120 for seven - thanks to Mark Chapman's unbeaten 64 - Porterfield (75no) hit 10 fours and four sixes from 36 balls as he and Andy Balbirnie made a mockery of Ireland's target in an unbroken century stand.

Porterfield conceded 16 from a rare over of his off-breaks to conclude Hong Kong's innings, after they chose to bat first.

But he made up for that with the bat as Ireland raced to victory with almost eight overs to spare, to boost confidence for next week's qualifying campaign in which they will be in the same group as Test match nation Bangladesh.
