After their shock defeat of Cork in the Munster SFC at Semple Stadium, their first over the Rebels in senior championship football since 1944, Tipperary will be looking to prove that they are the real deal.

Was it down to Tipperary being that good? Or was it a case of Cork underestimating the Premier County, where football has played second fiddle to hurling for such a long time?

For Kerry, who were beaten comfortably in last year’s All-Ireland Final by Dublin, they’ll be looking to assert their dominance at provincial level and build confidence for the all–important assault on All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.

At this point, Kerry are clear favourites to dispatch Tipperary, however, in a summer of sporting upsets, Iceland have shown in the Euros that with the right attitude, anything is possible. Tipperary are at longer odds to beat Kerry than Icelanders were against England, and we all know how that panned out.
