David Lanigan is expecting ground conditions to be in Biographer's favour when the smart stayer makes his seasonal debut in the Coolmore Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan on Sunday.

The Lambourn trainer has opted to start the six-year-old off in the Group Three over a mile and three-quarters after not declaring him for Friday's Yorkshire Cup.

"He worked this morning and worked well, so the plan is to go to Navan," said Lanigan.

"The ground should be fine for him at Navan. They've been getting plenty of rain and the ground is soft at the moment.

"I just thought the Yorkshire Cup looked a tough race this year and Navan looked a better spot to start him off and you couldn't be sure about the ground at York. It could be quick by Friday."
