Olympic gold medallist Katie Taylor made history today by claiming her sixth European title in a row with victory over Estelle Mossely of France in Bucharest.

Taylor secured  her 23rd straight European win since first claiming European gold in Norway in 2005 today. Victory secures her 16th straight major title.

Mossely, whom Taylor beat in the European Union final last July, shocked Russian southpaw Sofya Ochigava on a unanimous points decision in the her semi-final but was out of her depth against the Bray fighter.

Taylor was emotional after the stellar success: "I'm absolutely delighted. I can't believe, I couldn't have done it without my family.

"There's no limit to what God can do."
