The Manchester United fans inside Old Trafford showed their support towards Moyes by clapping the beleaguered manager as he walked towards the dugout.

The Scot showed his appreciation, raising his hands and clapping towards all four corners of the stadium.

A plane carrying the message 'Wrong One - Moyes Out' flew over Old Trafford shortly after kick-off.

A group of disgruntled fans were reported to have clubbed together £840 to charter the plane and fly it over the stadium as a protest against Moyes.

A second plane then flew over with the message: "Fergie back in 6-1 Paddy Power"

When asked about the flyover protest before the game, Moyes said: "I think they would have been better off putting the money into Darren Fletcher's charity."
