THE FIRST team took on league leaders Ballyfermot United and put in an excellent performance before unluckily losing out by one goal to nil, if lady luck was on their side the result could have been very different but with a bit more luck it shouldn't be long before they start climbing the league
The second teams title hope received a set back when they suffered a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Cabinteely FC at The Whitegates on Saturday afternoon, that's the story in this league, as results have proved that teams near the bottom are well capable of beating teams at the top and that's exactly what happened at the weekend.
The third team entertained division one league leaders St Patricks at The Whitegates and they were also unlucky to lose as they matched their opponents through out the game and eventually lost 2-0, this side is very young and still finding their feet and with a little bit more experience results could start going their way.
On the junior front last Saturday the under 12A's run in the National Cup came to an end when they were defeated by a very strong Tullamore Town side in the fourth round by a score of 4-0.
The under 8A's went down 5-1 away to St Anthonys while under 9A's fared better when they came out on top in their local derby away to Rathnew with a good 4-1 victory.
Our 15A's game with Ardmore Rovers was off but the 15B's were involved in a seven goal thriller away to Arklow United before unluckily losing out 4-3. On Sunday the stand out result of the day was an excellent win for the under 16's in the fourth round of the National Cup away to Ardmore Rovers of the South Dublin League, this victory means they progress to the open draw and the last 32 of the competition.
Elsewhere the 10A's were involved in a seven goal thriller away to Enniskerry which earned them a tense 4-3 win. The 10C's went down 3-0 at home to a good Coolboy Rangers team. Our 13A's defeated Greystones United at the Woodlands in their first league game by two goals to one. The 13B's recorded a good 4-2 away win against Roundwood.
The 14A's had a home win over Aughrim Rangers on a 6-2 score line. In the girls section the under 16 team were the only team in action and they went down 4-0 away to a very strong Templeogue United side in the quarter final of the Irish Rail Cup.
