WICKLOW TOWN are halfway to lifting the Division 1 title, despite the fact that Santa Claus isn't coming to town for another month.
The Finlay Park outfit played their seventh league fixture of the campaign on Sunday and that ended in a fantastic 3-2 victory over second placed St. Patrick's. They now hold a commanding five point lead over both St. Patrick's and St. Fergal's, both of whom have also completed seven fixtures thus far this season.
Eddie Kelly, Cathal Doyle and David 'DOC' O'Connor all managed singles for the league leaders to hand them victory. Bradley Moran and Martin Kelly were on target for the Avoca club.
Town's rivals, Wicklow Rovers, have endured a rather more torrid season to date. They have managed just a single point from six games, the latest of which saw them crushed 0-6 by Rathnew AFC B at the Whitegates.
