Wicklow Rovers were unable to put a spanner in the works for Wicklow Town on Sunday. despite their best efforts.
The deadly rivals met on the Whitegates battlefield on Sunday morning with very different ambitions for the tie. Rovers were hoping for a win to bolster their waning safety hopes while Town were searching for three points to edge closer to potential title glory. It looked like the strugglers might've derailed their rivals' title charge when Michael O'Connor nudged Rovers ahead but goals from Eric Dunne and Richard Murphy saw Town record a comeback and claim all three points to return them to the top.
