Stars light up in mighty win
CELTIC STARS stormed into the quarter-finals of the Charlie Bishop Cup as they blasted St. Fergal's out of the water at Drummin.
The two Division One sides have already met this season and that game was not without its controversy. Having lost 4-1, St. Fergal's launched a protest that Stars had fielded a player who was suspended at the time but after an appeal, their protests were rebuffed and the result stood.
So there was slightly more than a last eight spot at stake in Shillelagh on Sunday as the fourth and second placed sides respectively faced off.
But the Saints were left aggrieved by the Stars yet again as they were sent back to the Ballywaltrim Recreational Park with their tails tucked between their legs having been thumped by five goals to nil.
The Bray defence were unable to get to grips with the home side's Polish striking star Lukasz Niewadiomski who notched a treble, and he was joined on the scoresheet by Paddy Byrne and Peter Ryan. Potential opponents for the Stars in the next round so far are Ashford Rovers, Rathnew AFC A, Arklow Town A or Wicklow Town B.
