ASHFORD ROVERS finally chalked up their first league win of the season on Sunday as they outscored BBK United at Brittas Park.
Rovers strolled into a 0-3 lead and survived a late rally from the hosts to secure a 3-4 win. Dean Doyle (2), Danny Byrne and Paul Duffy were the goalscoring heroes for the Ballilea Park outfit, while Ryan Garvey, Andrew Reilly and Michael Murphy had managed to find the back of the net for the hosts.
This win lifts Rovers out of the relegation zone at Enniskerry YC's expense after the Berryfield Lane side suffered a thrashing against Shillelagh United.
The relegation-threatened club travelled to Ballard with the bare 11 in their squad but United showed no sympathy as they thumped five goals home on their way to a 5-0 victory.
Martin Kelly bagged a brace for Shillelagh who now sit just a point behind league leaders Newtown United. David Cullen, Sean Carroll and PJ Mulhall were also on target.
