SHAMROCK Celtic, Fassaroe YC and Wicklow Town B all joined Rathnew AFC B in the Charlie Byrne Division 3 North Cup last four at the weekend.
Rathnew AFC B and Fassaroe YC look set to lock horns in a play-off to decide the league title so for Shamrock Celtic and Wicklow Town B, this is their chance to outdo their rivals.
Shamrock Celtic squeezed into the semis with a last-gasp victory over Redbank United. The hosts were leading in Moneystown until the 70th minute when Scott Meaney drew his side level.
The chance of extra time was fast becoming a reality until – with the very last kick of the game – Celtic captain Craig Doyle found the net with a wicked free kick to break Redbank hearts.
Wicklow Town B will have no problem motivating themselves against rivals Shamrock Celtic or Rathnew, nor did they as they overcame St. Fergal's AFC B on Sunday. John Crowe, Eric Conlon and Conor Cox all found the net as the hosts recorded a 3-1 win at Finlay Park.
There was a local derby match in Fassaroe as Ballywaltrim came to town for their quarter final clash with Fassaroe YC.
The match left a lot to be desired and in the end, Fassaroe emerged victorious after a penalty shoot-out – winning 7-6.
These two will go head-to-head again this Sunday as Ballywaltrim host Fassaroe in their Division 3A Shield clash.
