Glencormac take pole position in title hunt

The twists and turns of Division 2 could be coming to an end. Glencormac United firmly put themselves in pole position on Sunday with a precious 5-3 victory over Seaview Wanderers. Cian McGoldrick (3) and Kevin Redden (2) did the damage for the Kilmacanogue side and set them on course for Division 2 honours. For more details, see our focus match.

Newtown United B was waiting in the woods should those two have drawn. A win against Aughrim Rangers in that case would've thrown them right back into contention but the Magpies were the ones who dropped points as they played out a 3-3 draw in Aughrim.

At Celtic Park it was a completely different kettle of fish as Arklow Celtic B and Roundwood scrapped for points to boost their survival hopes. And Arklow Celtic's hopes of avoiding the drop took another blow as the Vartry Grounds side picked up a 0-1 win to leave the Arklow side requiring a minor miracle to beat the drop.
