Football blitz is a tremendous success!

Published 17/04/2013 | 05:44

Over 100 Primary School children from first and second classes attended a nine-a-side football blitz in Stratford-Grangecon GAA grounds recently.

Teams from Tynock, Talbotstown, Donard, Hacketstown, Knockananna and Stratford National Schools all took part in the blitz day where the emphasis was on skill development and fun with all children taking part in the small sided games.

Many thanks to Mary O'Keeffe from Stratford National School for organising the blitz and to Jim Bollard and the Stratford-Grangecon club for setting up pitches and allowing schools to use the grounds.

A special thanks also to all the parents and teachers who attended on the day.

Also played off was the west Wicklow Cuman na mBunscol skills finals.

A big thank you to all the players who took part.

The day would not have been possible without the help of the parents, teachers and CE coaches who helped to run the event.

It was great to see so many schools in attendance and the skill level was very high.

Congratulations to all the winners. They will go on to represent the west in the county finals in Aughrim on April 17 at 10am.
