WICKLOW ROVERS AFC - Well the bad weather struck with a vengeance at the weekend. The only game to beat the weather was the first team's game away to St James Gate on Friday night and we didn't get anything from this game with the lads losing out 3-1 in what was a very disappointing performance by all accounts.
Darren Nolan hit his second goal of the season for the lads.
The hockey pitch was left in a terrible state at the weekend, someone let horses and ponies in on the pitch with the result that parts of the pitch were tore up resulting with the club having no choice but to cancel all super 7's and 9's games at the weekend, a lot of work will be required to get the pitch back in a playable condition, the only people to suffer in all this is the kids, they were left without football so we would ask the people responsible for letting the horses in on the pitch could they please refrain from doing so in the future.
The club are holding a managers meeting on Tuesday December 4 in the clubhouse at The Whitegates at 8pm, all managers are requested to attend this meeting.
If you cannot attend the meeting please send your assistant in your place, both manager and assistant are welcome to attend if they both wish to do so.
Everyone connected with Wicklow Rovers AFC would like to congratulate Jade Duffy and Megan Dunne on their selection for the U-13 Metropolitan Girls League development squad. This is a magnificent achievement for the two girls and their families.
The squad consists of only 19 players and when you take into account that the squad is selected from an area covering Wicklow, Carlow, Kildare, Meath, Dublin and Louth it just shows how much of an honour their selection is.
Both players are part of the club's U-14 team. Megan has been turning in some impressive displays between the posts while Jade has been equally impressive at the other end of the pitch scoring five goals in five games to be joint leading goal scorer for the team. Everyone at the club is proud of their achievement and we would like to wish them both further successes in the future, once again well done Megan and Jade.
The club's annual Christmas raffle will be held in The Grand Hotel on Saturday December 22 at 8pm. ARKLOW TOWN FC
Arklow Town FC suffered the loss of two former stalwarts late last week with the untimely passing of Myles Rowan, a former player, team manager and committee member and John Dillon, who had spent several years as club treasurer.
As a mark of respect to the two families, all home fixtures on Saturday were postponed and when coupled with the horrible weather conditions over the weekend there was very little action on the pitch.
Sunday proved a little kinder with three Town teams in action. The U-11A boys welcomed Greystones United to Bridgewater Centre Park and secured a convincing 4-1 victory with goals from Brandon Donnelly (2), Jordan Viera and Jack Kavanagh. Well done lads.
The persistent rain may have kept the spectators away however those that did attend for the U-14B game against Enniskerry FC were greeted with a 10goal thriller.
Unfortunately it was the visitors who took the points however the Town boys put up a tremendous fight resulting in a final score of 6-4 to Enniskerry. Congratulations to Sean Dodd and Ryan McGowan who scored a brace apiece for The Town.
The only away fixture this weekend saw the U-12B team visit Kilmacanogue to take on Glencormac United.
This team is enjoying a great run of form at present and for the second week in a row they chalked up a great 6-1 win with goals from Luke Cummins, Dylan O'Reilly, Iarla O'Donnell and a fantastic hat-trick from Dylan Murray.
There is plenty of activity in the club off the pitch at the moment. This Friday night (30th November) sees the final 'Shave Off' for the Town ' Movember' team who get their growths removed after growing and grooming them to the best of their ability since the beginning of the month.
Kennys of The Harbour is the place to be for a night of fun and craic and we would like to thank our team who stepped up to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society.
Tickets are now on sale for the annual Christmas raffle and these can be obtained from any member of the club.
Thursday December 6 will see another fantastic night at The Old Ship as we host the annual Table Quiz and don't forget that The Town is supporting the 2FM Toy Appeal again this year with all toys donated distributed to local children through the St Vincent de Paul. Your support will be very welcome.
SHILLELAGH UTD LADIES FC
The ladies played Wexford Celtic at home last Sunday morning and were beaten 2-0 by the visiting side. To their credit the girls put in another battling team performance and worked really hard for each other, with all our younger players shining in what was a fairly physical encounter.
This Sunday December 1 we are at home again against Enniscorthy Town at 11.30am.
Training continues every Tuesday and Friday at 7pm. All new players welcome.
The Fixx Cyclocross series continued this week in St Anne's Park in Raheny with Bray's Sean O Tuathaill taking second place to the current National Cyclocross Champion.
Despite an excellent start and early lead O'Tuathaill was overtaken in later laps to finish second.
The Bray Wheelers cycling club recently held their AGM and would like to thank the outgoing committee for all their hard work running the club over the past year.
It is due to the hard work of volunteers that the club is able to run such a successful season of spins, club races, youth spins, leisure events and open races. Also best of luck to the incoming committee for the coming year.
The beginners spins are continuing with the next spin leaving Kilmacanoge at 9.45am on Sunday December 2. A full list of beginners spins and fitness spins is listed on the website www.braywheelers.com under the News section. New members are always welcome and membership forms can be downloaded from the website.
There is also a full programme of youth events running over the winter and over 20 youths turned up a wet and freezing cold Sunday for a skills and race session in Corkagh Park. This had to be cut short due to the adverse weather conditions.
RATHDRUM GYMNASTICS CLUB
Rathdrum's first ever Christmas Holiday Gymnastics and Trampoline camp and a trampoline only camp have just been announced. They will run on January 2, 3, and 4 from 10am to 1pm each day. Cost €60 paid in advance. Online booking forms are available in the Christmas Gym and Trampoline camp section on our website www.rathdrumgymclub.ie.
These camps are based on what was done in the club summer camps, these were a great success and created a huge demand to run the seasonal camps.
The classes are suited to all levels from absolute beginner upwards, participants must be six or over.
Gymnastics Ireland ran the first ever Trampoline Talent Squad last weekend, this was to invite the top talent in each region, in this case the east and midlands. There were 24 trampolinists at the squad; 16 from Rathdrum and a great day was had by all.
They were coached by the trampoline national squad director and also by members of the national squad. Charlotte Savill (11) from Rathdrum was given the chance to coach the top Ireland trampolinist Boyd Cathcart and to teach him her novice routine, he performed admirably!
Rathdrum's head coach Les along with Beckii Connor, Jade Duggan, Siobhan Geoghegan and Lauren Kelly all worked with the squad director to help coach the groups.
Lauren is the latest addition to our coaching team and we hope to have her working on the squad long term, this will benefit her greatly as a performer too.
Wicklow town trampoline classes are still running in the Fatima hall in the Dominican College on Wednesdays 5-6 pm and 6-7 pm
New clases are about to start in Rathdrum on Thursday evenings from 4-5 pm, 5-6 pm and 6-7 pm and cover floor, vault, bars and beam ( no trampoline) and can be booked online in the enrolment/waiting list section of our website www.rathdrumgymclub.ie details of costs are all on the website too. The club can be contacted by email email@example.com of by text/call 086 3212213
Carnew AFC had two games in action over the weekend. The U-11 team travelled to Roundwood Saturday morning looking to pick up some points but it was not to be their day.
The team went 2-0 down and picked up a late consolation goal when John Young put a well-placed penalty in the back of the Roundwood net.
It was a great team performance and player of the week went to goalkeeper Conor Wafer.
The U-8 team travelled to Wicklow on this cold and rainy Sunday morning.
It was a very entertaining, close game with all the team playing well. The boys were unlucky to go lose out 3-2 at the final whistle.
Evan Kavanagh scored both of Carnew's goals to add to his increasing tally.
Player of the week went to Adam Jordan. The U-9s game due to be played at home Saturday morning was called off due to a frozen pitch. Club gear is available to purchase and would make a great present for any supporters or players.
Remember add us on Facebook for all the teams news and fixtures.
Unfortunately there were no games this week due to the weather.
Our ladies have their presentation night on Saturday December 1 at 8pm in Fitzpatrick's everyone welcome please come and support this very successful team. The ladies had a great season winning the league and cup well done to Alvin and all involved.
The academy continues every Saturday at 11am all children aged 4 to 7 welcome.
All at the club were sad to hear of the damage done to Wicklow Rover's hockey pitch where all their small sided games are played but unfortunately this is the times we live in and it's the children who suffer let's hope the culprits are caught and punished
WICKLOW TOWN AFC
It was a very quiet weekend for the club with only two matches going ahead on Sunday due to the weather and no fixtures. First up were the U-8s against Carnew in the only home game of the weekend, which they won 3-2.
The first team in the meantime travelled to take on Celtic Stars but it wasn't their day as they lost 4-0. There are some senior socks and shorts available in the shop during match times at €5 each.
Tonight Wednesday 28 there will be a committee meeting in the upstairs lounge of Ta Se's Bar.
If any managers would like anything added to the notes please email firstname.lastname@example.org by 9pm on Sunday evening or contact Amanda 0863442848. For all news and updates please log onto our Wicklow Town AFC Facebook page.
NEWTOWN JUNIORS FC
The very wet conditions left all but one of our teams twiddling their thumbs last weekend. The U-8s travelled to Aughrim and in a thrilling game they lost narrowly 3-2 when they conceded a penalty in the very last minute.
The two Newtown goals were excellently dispatched to the net by Ryan McMahon and Ryan Clarke. On the day Darragh Heffernan and Nathan Murray were among the players who played well. Well done guys on your efforts on the day.
Only one player celebrates a birthday in the coming week and she is Sophie Ward from the girl's U-16s. Happy birthday Sophie from everyone at Newtown Juniors F.C.
Reminder to all parents/guardians that the remainder of all membership fees must be paid on or before December 1st 2012.

NEWTOWN UNITED FC
No on field action for our teams last weekend as the heavy rain left most pitches waterlogged.
In the first of the Bunclody F.C. draws (November) we had one winner and that was Ben Kelly (49th prize). Well done Ben.
