WICKLOW ROVERS AFC - Both the first and second teams had no games at the weekend. The third team entertained league leaders St Fergal's at the Whitegates and yet again lady luck deserted them.
They matched their more experienced opponents and went in front with an early goal from Mikey Delaney, they eventually lost out 3-2.
In the girls section the U-12s went down 3-1 away to Greystones, leading scorer Niamh Caffrey scored the Rovers goal to keep her record of scoring in every game since the start of the season and brings her tally to six goals in four games.
The U-16 girls won 9-0 away to Liffey Valley FC, the highlight of the game was two hat-tricks, one from Amie Collier and the other from Kayleigh Sullivan. On the Junior front we were suppose to have four teams in National Cup action, three teams received walkovers while the other fell victim to the weather, the 12As were awarded a walkover from Lakelands B, the 13As got a walkover from Bush Celtic while the 16As received a walkover from Castle Villa.
The 15As game away to Naas United fell foul of the weather. Elsewhere in the schoolboy/girls section the U-8As drew 2-2 with Rathnew with the deadly duo of Aaron Murray and Charlie Phelan notching a goal apiece, our 9As defeated Greystones 2-0 with Glen Broughan and Mark Hodgkinson hitting the back of the net, the 9Cs played their second match of the season and recorded their first win defeating Enniskerry B by two goals to one with David Butler and Kai Fitzsimmons netting the goals.
Our 10As lost 3-0 away to Ardmore Rovers A, the 10Bs lost out to Rathnew 3-2 in a thriller, Adam O'Reilly and an og accounted for Rovers goals, the 10Cs won 2-0 away to local rivals Wicklow Town, Finn Egan Barron and Aaron Lynch supplying the goals.
The 11Bs kept themselves well in the title hunt with a narrow 1-0 away win over Greystones with Joe O'Shea getting the all important goal.
The 12Bs lost 4-1 away to Greystones with Fionn Matthews scoring his second goal of the season. Our 14As maintained their one hundred percent record in the division 1 shield with a 4-0 home win over Coolboy Rangers, Sean Algera, Rory Dowling, JJ Power and Shane Devlin were all on the scoreboard. The rest of our junior teams had no games.
The hat-trick club this week saw two ladies add their names to the list, both girls registered their hat-tricks for the U-16 girls in their 9-0 away win over Liffey Valley FC, Amie Collier and Kayleigh Sullivan both hit the back of the net three times, well done Amie and Kayleigh.
All managers, coaches, players and parents are asked to note that there will be no games this weekend the 27th/28th of October in the Wicklow District Schoolboys/Girls League.
Also our Saturday morning soccer academy will not take place this weekend due to the Bank Holiday, the academy will resume the following Saturday November 3 on the all weather pitch at 11 am, so all you kids from 3 years of age up to 8 years come along and enjoy the game of soccer under the guidance of Johnny Dunne.
The club are seeking players for U-8s (born 2005/2006), U-9s (born 2004) and U-11s (born 2002). If you have a child at any of these age groups and are interested in playing please contact John Frazer at 087-0564394.
It has been noted that some managers are not texting full information to club secretaries. The text should contain both team names, whether A, B or C, age group, competition and goal scorers.
Also text should be sent asap after the end of the match and should be sent whether you win or lose.
Please think of the people who are giving up their time to send results and goal scorers to the league and newspaper, everything has a knock on effect by the delay to send in your result in. This applies to the senior teams as well as the Junior sides.
Anyone with information for the club notes or the club website can contact me at 0879108706 or e-mail me at email@example.com

We had two games on at the weekend as the U8 game was called off. The U-9 team travelled to Glencormac on Saturday morning. It was a great entertaining game of football. There were some brilliant displays of football and the boys played their hearts out. The game ended in a 1-1 draw which was a fair result.
Carnew's goal came from Luke Wallace. It was one of the toughest weeks yet to pick a player of the week but the award went to Will Molloy for adapting to the outfield play so quickly, his tireless chasing and his great tackles.
The U-11 team travelled to local club Coolboy and had one of their worst games so far.
Coolboy kicked off the scoring early and Carnew just couldn't get into the game at all.
The more Coolboy scored the more the boys heads dropped. Hard luck boys and hopefully you can learn from the mistakes.
South East tickets are on sale from the club currently and all players have one to sell, this is a great fundraiser for the club so please support.
Club gear is available to purchase at the moment and we have all sizes in stock so please contact Lorraine for prices and to order. As always follow us on Facebook at Carnew AFC for all the latest club news, fixtures and results

We are trialling new substitution rules in the Autumn Mix N Match Team League.
In order to discourage the practice players will only be able to call on substitutes from the Line below them. You must also text both your own captain and the opposition captain so that both are aware of the proposed substitution.
Opposing captains should contact the tournament referee if they feel a proposed sub is inappropriate.
The tournament referee may permit a stronger substitute (i.e. from the same line) in exceptional circumstances (long term injury, holidays, etc.)
The new singles pyramid ladder is up and running with challenge matches taking place regularly now. So why not check it out and challenge someone on your line. Once you have played anyone on your row you can then challenge up to the row above you.
This year the club intend to go out for a meal and drinks. If anyone would like to suggest a venue give Kevin Flanagan a call as we are open to suggestions and want to as inclusive as possible this year.
