Byrne the hero in Enniskerry mauling

Published 28/11/2012 | 08:50

DANNY BYRNE was undoubtedly the star of the show at Berryfield Lane on Friday evening as he almost single-handedly tore Enniskerry YC to shreds in this Premier Division clash.

This fixture was originally scheduled to be played in Ashford on Sunday.

But it was then changed to the the YC's backyard on Friday instead but that fact didn't seem to deter Byrne and co as they went on the warpath from the oepning whistle.

The former Wicklow Town man landed four of his side's five goals as they ran out 1-5 winners to haul themselves up to fifth spot in the top flight.

Paul Duffy added Rovers' other strike.

Carl O'Rourke managed the home side's effort and they now sit in a comfortable sixth spot following this defeat and will be hoping for better times in their next outing.
