ARKLOW TOWN suffered a scare but managed to keep their unbeaten record intact and, more importantly, move back into contention for the title.
The Town made the very short trip from the Bridgewater Centre Park to Celtic Park to take on Arklow Celtic in what was just their fifth league outing of the season. And a shock appeared to be on the cards when Lee Doyle put the hosts ahead.
Willy Kavanagh saved face for the reigning champions when he squared things up to leave the scores at 1-1 at the break but it was a different side who emerged in the second period as they stormed to victory.
Kavanagh grabbed his second to give the visitors the lead and then it was time for the Gearoid Redmond show.
He grabbed a second half hat-trick, securing the match ball late on as he made it 1-6 to the Town.
Gavin Doyle had grabbed the fifth for the away side.
There have also been some stirrings at lower echelons of the table. Enniskerry YC have been enjoying a turbulent relationship with the relegation zone but thanks to a 3-0 victory over BBK United on Friday evening, the Berryfield Lane club now find themselves in fifth spot.
Billy Piggot, Carl O'Rourke and Anto O'Neill joined forces to earn their side the three points.
