A last-minute deal saw young Wicklow driver Seán Doyle back in a Wicklow-built car for the Formula Vee Festival in aid of Laura Lynn Foundation.
This season so far, Sean has being driving his regular FF1600 in the champion of Mondello Series with his MCP team but a late opportunity couldn't be passed up as he ventured into a Formula Sheane for the weekend. He last drove a Sheane race car two years ago in the prestigious Leinster Tropy. With limited testing, Sean was ready for Saturday's race.
He started eighth after a bad qualifying with a small mistake in setup. He got off to a good start and was up to third by the end of the first lap and then managed to work his way up to second. However, after a little bit of contact he had to pull in because the car wouldn't restart.
On Sunday he started in seventh but was up to first by the first complete lap and held on to the lead, holding off class regulars to win the race.
Seán would like to thank Motorsport.ie for the car for the weekend, Nissan Ireland, Wicklow Tyre Service, Boss Security, IT Monkey, Patch Tyre Equipment and Mondello Park.
He will be back out in his FF1600 in August in Mondello Park.
