THE FIRST bridge competition of December was a cold start to the Christmas season but the Dominican Ecology Centre was toasty warm and bright for the hardy members who came out for the evening on Budget day.
Some deals were marked by varied distribution with voids and challenges for partners to bid the right contract on many hands.
The experienced couple of Anne McCarthy and Carmel Moore took the honours and beat a tie for second place between Mona Doyle and Larry Ryan and Harvey and Michael Ryan. In fourth spot were John Domoney and Billy Dunne.
Beating the increases on excise duty announced in the Budget, refreshment for the Christmas chris-kindle party night on Wednesday the 19th December was purchased from a local supermarket.
Christmas wishes blessing and good cheer to all our members and friends of the Grand Slam Bridge Club.
