Carnew pool stars claim title

THE South East Pool League finale were played last week and two team from Wicklow won the South East Pool Cup and the Division 2 League final.

The South East Pool Cup final was won by the Corner House from Carnew who beat the Deereen from Tullow in Carlow on a score line of 10-0. The Division 2 final was a much closer affair between O'connors of Tinahely and the Corner House pool team from Athy Co Laois.

The Corner House Athy went into an early lead when Paddy Purcell and Terry Hollian won their game against Matt Browne and Pat Kenny but O'connors fought back with wins from Jody Maher and Conor O'byrne to level the match at two all. Paddy Brennan from O'connors and Joe Byrne from The Corner House played the decider which Paddy Brennan won 3-2 bringing the cup back to O'connors Tinahely for the second time. The Division 1 final was won by Bolands A from Hacketstown in Carlow who beat The Deereen Bar from Tullow in the final 3-0. The Shield final was won by The Gap Pub from Ballythomas who beat Black Toms B from Tinahely in the final 3-2.
