ARKLOW BOXING CLUB is getting back to basics after their successful Show in The Arklow Bay Hotel last week.
Just a correction to last weeks report Nathan McCarthy from Arklow beat Chris Wall from Ballywailtrim in the tournament not the other way about. Well done Nathan. Meanwhile Arklow boxers had mixed luck in the Wexford open League at the weekend Sean Crowley got things off to a great start when he defeated Kieran Dodd's from the Ballagh.
Sean held the centre of the ring and picked off the Ballagh boxer with solid felt right combinations.
Nathan McCarthy was always on song when he moved well to catch the fancied Chris Wall out of Ballywailtrim with fast two-handed attacks and came out the winner.
Conor Kenny had a tough battle with James Kealy from Paulstown and despite a good second round lost on points.
The club is planning two shows in the gym before Christmas where they hope to host the Rystan Club from Newbridge and the Rathnew Club.
The club are also invited to travel to St Ibars club Wexford for a show in the next two weeks.
The Arklow club are preparing for their annual five-week draw which starts on Sunday night, prize money is €2,500. Tickets cost €15. The one ticket does all five draws Would ticket sellers return tickets to club on or before Friday
