'I just don't know what happened'
There was another disappointing loss for the Wicklow Senior footballers last Sunday, this time at home to Leitrim.
The north-westerners arrived in Aughrim as underdogs despite a nine point thrashing of Carlow the week before and Wicklow manager, Harry Murphy, says he just can't account for the loss.
"I don't know, I just don't know what happened," said Murphy. "It was Even Steven in the first half I thought, but in the second half they wanted it more and we just collapsed to be honest," he said.
"It was all of us, collectively, that were at fault, they wanted it more and that shouldn't be the case, if it was one or two players that hadn't performed you'd say ok, but everyone, we all just collapsed and I can't put a finger on it," said Harry.
Leitrim don't have much of a reputation in recent years with Emlyn Mulligan and Janes Glancy their stand out names and Murphy says they worked hard.
"They are an ordinary enough side, but they have a plan and they stick to it, things were even for a long time and then we collapsed and they wanted it more," said Harry.
This Sunday it's a local derby with Carlow providing the opposition and the venue for Wicklow and with the scallion eaters fresh off the back of a shock win over Antrim it's bound to be an interesting affair.
"It can't come quick enough for us, I mean we want to put this right, I wasn't surprised that Carlow beat Antrim especially in Carlow but Wicklow v Carlow games are usually good games to be involved in so roll on Sunday," said the Wicklow manager.
