The winning lotto numbers for last Monday 12th march were 4, 15, 22 and 27. There was no winner of the ?8,200 jackpot and no winner of the match three so there were four winners of the lucky dip.

Our U16 boys travelled to Aughrim/annacurragh on Friday last for the second game of the U16 cross border invitational tournament. The first half was a very one sided affair in Annacurragh's favour with Daire Mcbride scoring Arklow's only point to 5-5 for the home side. Arklow were second to a lot of the ball and not strong enough in the tackle but a different AGB team went back onto the pitch for the second half. The home team scored a couple of points in the opening minutes but then Arklow asserted themselves on the game with goals from Eoghan Doyle and JP Sheehan in the 3rd and 4th minute lifting the teams spirits. Arklow enjoyed a good 20 minute spell where they were rewarded with goals from Daire Mcbride and Paddy Sally and a point from Adam Forde, despite carrying a leg injury. Arklow failed to convert all their chances and as the half progressed the team tired and the home team got in for some soft scores. Man of the match for Arklow was Liam Gregory who had an excellent game and Jamie Carty put in a good shift at half back, thank you to Ross mcbride who stepped in at short notice. Their next match is in Castletown Friday 23rd at 6.30.

AGB Ladies Junior team recorded their second victory of the league this season with a late winning goal over their opponents Tinahely on St. Patrick's Day. This was a very evenly contested game with both sides scoring consistently throughout and never much more than a single score separating them Tinahely going in at half time in front on 26 to 2-5.

In the second half continued in the same fashion Annie Conroy opened the scoring with a goal for AGB in the fourth minute. Tinahely responded with two further points to level the sides for the second time in the fifth minute. Two goals from Annie Conroy and Sinead Arthur in the twentieth and twenty first minutes reversed the situation and AGB now led by 2 points. A goal for Tinahely in the twenty second minute left AGB trailing by a point with five minutes left to play. But a point and a late goal from Sinead Arthur in the twenty eighth minute secured the win for AGB final score 6-8 to 4-10.

In the County Football League Division 1 (round 3) AGB Senior men take on Kiltegan on Saturday 24th at Pearses Park KO 5pm on the back of a series of losses the team are sure to pull out all the stops and provide an entertaining game on Saturday all support welcome.

As always full reports, pictures and fixtures on

The lads got off to a winning start in their opening league encounter against Newcastle on Saturday winning on a score line of 02-07 to 0-08, after a slow start they soon got into their stride with Paddy Byrne and Paddy (Beefy) Keeffe finding their range over the bar, leading by five points to three Paul Lang found the net to open up a comfortable lead that they would hold on to for the remainder of the match, the back line dealt very well with what Newcastle put up to them and never really looked in trouble, all in all it was a good run out for the lads with Ronan Byrne earning himself the man of the match..

The club would like to wish John Wybrant a speedy recovery and our thoughts and prayers are with the Wybrant family at this difficult time.

Hard luck to the ladies team on Saturday against Donard. The 11 aside match was played with more conviction, tact and was close in score throughout up until the final whistle. The word filtering through "the Gap" was there was good teamwork displayed and good scoring by Katie Bouchier. The team would like to wish Dee a speedy recovery from her injury and hope to see you back soon for more trojan efforts on the pitch. Also thank you to the Donard physio on the day for checking out our young defender, it was much appreciated.

Congratulations to former Club and County hurler Gerry Kinsella who celebrated his 50th birthday with a big party in Glenealy Hall with family and friends last Sunday night. Music was by local band XLR8, and a great time was had by all who rocked the night away until the early hours. Gerry is looking forward to his 100th already when he says he is going to have a repeat performance.

Pride of place this week goes to Brian Finnegan who was honoured with a GAA Presidents Award at a function in the Croke Park Hotel on Friday last. The awards ceremony was broadcast live on TG4. Brian played in goals for Wicklow for 8 years in the 70's and 80's and played Senior football for the club from 17-37! He served as Club Secretary for many years and continues to work tirelessly for St. Patricks in coaching underage teams, running the club lotto and looking after the pitch! Brian tells a story that the best goal scored against him was in Aughrim one day in a league match where the great Babs Keating of Tipperary found the top corner from about 25 yards out, we didn't ask him the year! The award is richly deserved and it is fantastic that he has been recognised in this way. Well done to all who helped out with the float for St. Patricks Day, where we were in the prizes once again in winning the best Float for a sports club. The Intermediate footballers were beaten in their league game at home to a strong Shillelagh team on Saturday last

Congratulations to our own Lesley Tutty who was recently chosen as Ballymore Ladies Club person of the year. Well done to St. Kevins minors who picked up another win during the week with a strong performance against Barndarrig.

A quiet week last week for Blessington GAA but it will be made up for next week. Our U16s played Edenderry in the Leinster League last Saturday at home but despite a draw (4-10 each) Blesso needed the win to stay in the league. A fantastic second half by Blesso but with a last second penalty resulting in a goal for Edenderry it was to be the end of the road for Blesso who were last years champions. Well done lads.

The U14 semi final will take place in Kilcoole at 2pm wiht AGB v Carnew and Blesso v Balto. The final will be played at 3pm. Fingers crossed that our boys will be representing Wicklow for an unprecedented 3 years running. The lads are playing very well as a team and it would be great for them to achieve this piece of club history.
