Wicklow sides start out on the road to Limerick
The road to the national festival of hurling and camogie to be held in Limerick this year started for the Wicklow teams at the weekend.
Nine teams in all took part at three different venues last week with three teams at each venue and two of them going through to the next round.
Carnew, the holders of the Wicklow trophy who represented Wicklow in Feile in Dublin last year, lost to Arklow Rock Parnells but then came back with a big win over St Patrick's to go through.
Michael Dwyers, who also got through to Dublin last year, topped Group 1 and they are in the next round. Surprise packets in the qualifiers had to be Tinahely who are in this competition for the first time this year.
The second round of qualifiers takes place on Saturday at two venues (see fixtures below).
