Shillelagh steal victory after an amazing game

The goal grabbers were sat it again!
Despite being out played by the newest Senior team in Wicklow, Shillelagh still finished clear cut winners of this Division 2 match, played at the Fairgreen on Saturday.
One question the Dales will be asking themselves for a long time - how do you control three-quarters of the play, lead for three-quarters of the hour, score 13 times as against 8 for the opposition and still lose the match.
Well that is exactly what happened on Saturday in Shillelagh.
Because it is so sheltered the wind has little or no effect on matches in Shillelagh but whatever small advantage there was appeared to be with the home side in the first half but they still went in trailing by 0-2 to 0-8 at half-time and looked in for a real hiding in the second half.
Paddy Byrne grabbed an early goal for the home team in the second half but the 'Dales who play Hollywood in the first round of the SFC were still dictating the play and led by 0-10 to 1-2 at the three-quarter stage.
Another goal by Paddy Byrne and another by substitute Anthony Cullen turned the game around and sent Shillelagh on their way.
Avondale did try to rally in the closing minutes but their only reward was two late pointed frees by their top scorer Ian Heffernan and that simply was not enough to overturn the Shillelagh goal rush.
