THE GREAT survivors An Tochar have done it again. When the trap door beckons that is when the men from Roundwood can always be depended on to find something special.

They did it again at Blessington on Saturday evening when they hit the ground running, turned in a great first-half performance and had this Senior football championship relegation play-off game all but sewn up before the interval. Goals by Ger Byrne and Joe Gaffney and points by Conor Davis and Brendan Kennedy sent them on their way.Half-time score - An Tochar 2-9, Stratford-Grangecon 0-3.

The Slaneysiders lifted their game in the second-half and outscored the opposition but could never get through for the goals they needed.

Stratford-Grangecon were again hard pressed for numbers after losing up to eight of their strong players this year. They now face a shoot-out against Arklow Geraldines/Ballymoney in a match that will decide who makes the drop to the Intermediate grade next year.

Scorers - An Tochar: Ger Byrne 1-2, Conor Davis 0-4, Brendan Kennedy 0-4, Joe Gaffney 1-0, Stefan Collier 0-1, Liam Kenna 0-1.

Top scorers for Stratford-Grangecon were Jason Bolger, Alan Norton, Mark Caplice and Michael Mangan.
