Bray bounce back with good win over Tinahely
Bray Emmets picked up a useful brace of points on Saturday to compensate to some degree, for a loss to neighbours Eire Og Greystones earlier in the week.
In fact, they can consider themselves somewhat lucky to have got away with both points on this occasion.
Tinahely missed a golden opportunity of putting some more points on the board in Division 1 of the league. In a very even match the lead changed hands a number of times.
The Bray men had a disastrous opening to this match missing a penalty in the second minute of the game and it was Alan Nolan who opened the scoring from a free five minutes later.
Jordan Egan, recently returned to the Bray side kicked a long range point from a free to level the game.
Both sides exchanged points before Rory Breslin got a goal coming up to half time to send the Emmets in leading by 1-5 to 0-7 at the break. A brace of points by David Dillon restored the Tinahely lead early in the second half but the Seasiders struck for another goal and were hanging on to a single point lead in the dying minutes.
David Dillon almost got one of his hallmark goals just on the hour but his boxed effort went the wrong side of the post.
Even in injury time a long range shot by Tony Darcy just curled wide of the post. The brace of points keep the Bray side just about in contention for a top four position but to get that they cannot afford any more slip ups.
