Carnew one win away from title
With promotion already under their belts, Carnew United will now attempt to take the big prize this Sunday.
They host basement side Arklow Celtic B at the Back Alley and will lift the title should they collect all three points against the Celtic Park club.
Sunday's potential crowning was made possible thanks to a historic derby win this weekend. Carnew United and Carnew Celtic went to war on Sunday last and it was a momentous occasion for the former as they stormed to a 0-7 success without even allowing their rivals a single shot on target. Sean Kinsella was Celtic's tormenter in chief as he rammed home a treble, while he was joined on the scoresheet by Jonathon Smith and Adrian Myers, both of whom bagged braces.
Conary United had looked set to be title challengers all season but now even their top three status has come under significant threat. They were pushed down to fourth place this week by FC Laragh, who managed a 2-1 win over the Avoca side. Brian Hanlon and Steve Olohan struck for Laragh, who now overtake Conary in third.
