The U-12s had a great day at the Leinster Caman to Tullamore blitz last Saturday. That was actually the last 'official' outing for the U-12s and they performed magnificently as always against teams from Kilkenny, Wexford, and Dublin.
Meanwhile, the U-16s lost out to Kilcoole in the 'B' Championship but went on to have a resounding win against Annacurra in the Shield semi-final. The U-16 Shield final will be played on September 27.
A big congratulations to Olivia Matthews who represented Carnew on the Wicklow U-14 team at the Leinster Inter-County Blitz on Saturday, August 9 in the Sportsfield in Carnew.
Over 100 girls participated, with U-14 Development Squads taking part from Wicklow, Kildare, Meath and Laois.
And the U-8s and U-10s are still playing, with blitzes to come in Knockananna on August 23, Kiltegan on September 6 and Aughrim on September 20.
Both teams were out last week in competitive action and both teams won scoring 3-11 each. On Tuesday night last our Senior team travelled to Donard to play in the league.
We started off quite well and never looked like losing. The Seniors won 3-11 to 0-9 in the end. This leaves us with four games to go and we are still top of league table.
Our next match is at home to Annacurra last night (Tuesday) in the league. Hopefully we can win this and push on for promotion.
Last Thursday evening the Junior 'B' team travelled to Baltinglass to take on Hollywood in the championship knowing a win would send us to the quarter-finals.
The match proved to be too easy for Tinahely with goals coming from Oisin Furlong, Conor Kenny and Kevin Darcy.
Tinahely cruised in to the quarter-finals on a score line of 3-11 to 0-8.
This Junior team came improve and get a lot closer to the final if they put it in now and with Sean Pollard getting a taste of championship action who knows what will happen.
Thanks to everyone who supported the jersey night in O'Connors on behalf of our three dancers, Shane, Brian, and Jamie. Plenty more events are coming up so please support this wonderful fundraiser.
Finally, our Junior team play Annacurra on Thursday evening in the Carter Cup. The game is fixed for Annacurra at 7.30pm.
Well done to the ladies team who battled hard against Carnew in the Junior B final yesterday to come away with a draw 5-5 to 4-8.
The skill and determination showed by both teams will encourage even more support for the replay (date not confirmed).
Many thanks all those in Arklow who helped make the ladies final day such a success, there were excellent facilities, stewarding, officiating but particularly the sporting nature of all the games and the wonderful support shown for all sides throughout the finals.
Congratulations to all and commiserations to the unsuccessful squads.
The Under-14 boys team were beaten by Carnew in the semi-final of the league, the lads were missing a couple of players and never really got going. They are playing Avondale in the championship this week.
Last Fridays blitz for the Under-8s and 10s was cancelled at the last minute but Newtown travelled to Rathnew with both teams and had an enjoyable evening. Many thanks to Rathnew GAA for inviting us over and for providing refreshments
The debut for our Under-12s girls team was a great success and they had a good win. This is the first time these girls have played together and although they have a lot of work to do, they gelled very well together as a team.
Every player on the pitch played their hearts out in true magpie style and ran away winners 3-11 to 3-3. Also a big thank you to Rathnew GAA for a great sporting match.

The last week has shown mixed fortunes for Aughrim's Intermediate side as they won one lost one in the Division 2 league.
The loss came early in the week to AGB in Arklow where Aughrim went into the second half trailing by a single point but failed to really get going in the second half.
In the end AGB ran out easy winners. On Saturday however Aughrim played at home to Top of the table Blessington. This could not have been a more different performance than the previous as Aughrim showed plenty of heart, grit and determination to run out eventual winners on a score line of 5-08 to 1-14. This latest result means that Aughrim will bring some momentum into this Friday's championship quarter-final against Baltinglass.
Please note the change of fixture.
