WICKLOW'S streets were illuminated in an array of eye-catching colours as the Christmas lights for 2012 were officially switched on.
Huge crowds gathered for the annual Santa parade as Claus and some of his helpers strolled down Main Street toward Fitzwilliam Square.
The turning on of the lights also included performances from the Wicklow Pipe Band and pupils from Gaelscoil Chill Mhantain.
Wicklow's award winning Victorian Christmas is now up and running, and includes the Victorian Christmas Kingdom located in Wicklow Gaol, where Santa has taken up residence.
Word has it that he will make this the happiest Christmas.
