SINN Féin will launch a new job creation policy document detailing measures to create 156,000 jobs at a public meeting taking place in Wicklow town.
Entitled Jobs Plan - Enterprise for the 21st Century, the document is described as a stimulus package aimed at tackling the high unemployment rate. According to Sinn Féin, the plan identifies €13 billion which can be used to create jobs, improve competitiveness and increase productivity. It would be funded through the National Pension Reserve Fund, European Investment Bank, incentivised investment from the private pension sector. The party claims the investment would create around 156,000 jobs and retain up to 15,000 existing jobs. Cllr. John Brady, who will be present at the 7.30p.m. Thursday launch at Ernie's Bar, says the government has paid lip service to job creation. Their ambitions for this state are limited to Troika-led retrenchment. In Wicklow there are 12,164 people unemployed.. bodies such as the IDA have completely overlooked Wicklow.'
