Skate park plan fails to find any funding

AN application by Wicklow Town Council for funding for a skate park and outdoor gym has proved unsuccessful.
The council has spent a number of months drawing up the application in the hope that funding would be released for the skate park and outdoor gym. The Murrough had even been suggested as a suitable site for the development. However, the application proved unsuccessful.
Cllr. Pat Kavanagh, speaking at Wednesday's Town Council meeting, expressed her disappointment at the news. Rather than waiting to reapply again in a year's time, she suggested a different strategy might be the best plan of action.
'A Committee had been set up about the skate park and outdoor gym and that option will have to be revisited. It's a pity the council weren't successful with funding as that would have been simpler all round, especially with the amount of paper work involved.
'I will be going back to the committee this week to see if we can apply to Wicklow Partnership for funding, with Wicklow Town Council providing the site.'
She added that the skate park would take priority if limited funding meant only one of the projects could proceed.
