WICKLOW MAN Robin Mooney came out on top of the Sheep Stockjudging competition held as part of the Macra na Feirme Annual Conference in Waterford last weekend.

Robin, from Redcross Macra, was presented with an award for his achievement by Joe Burke, Bord Bia and National Macra President, Alan Jagoe.

While congratulating Robin on his win, Mr. Jagoe commented, ' the Bord Bia stockjudging competitions help young farmers become skilled at assessing livestock, and prepares them for the actual job of buying and selling animals, a crucial skill for any young farmer.'

As a first place winner Robin will join the Macra na Feirme prize-winners trip abroad next year.
