Redcross will undergo a pink transformation on Sunday, July 20 as part of a fundraising initiative for Barretstown and the local Cullen Memorial Park.
The ethos of the Pinkcross Run is Think Pink, Wear Pink, Run Pink. Last year was the first time the walk, run or waddle took place, raising some €1,400 for Wicklow Hospice.
Things get underway on Sunday at 10 a.m. sharp. The 7km route is suitable for buggies and there is also a 10 mile route, with a much shorter route for kids up along the Main Street.
There will be endless spot prizes presented for the best dressed 'Pinks.' It costs €10 for adults to enter and children are free.
Barretstown was chosen as one of the charities benefitting from the fundraiser because of the experience of the Doyle family from Redcross. Their son, Max, was aged four when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. They have first hand experience of what Barretstown has to offer after attending one of the summer Family Camps held in Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare.
