ON THURSDAY last members of the local mountain rescue team brought a man and his dog to safety.
At 3.30pm last Thursday a man became crag-fast on the side of the Poulanass waterfall in Glendalough. He had been attempting to rescue his dog, wich had fallen into the gorge. The 60-year-old walker found himself on very precarious ground and was unable to return to the path.
Local mountain rescue team members were able to attend the scene within minutes, and were able to bring the uninjured man and his dog back to safety. This took until 5.30pm due to the complicated nature of the terrain. Team capabilities in Rope rescue and Swift-water rescue were essential to the operation's successful outcome.
