AN AUGHRIM man who put cannabis down the front of his trousers when he spotted gardaí had his case adjourned until February at last week's sitting of Arklow District Court.
Daniel Byrne (23), 36, Our Lady's Drive, Aughrim was charged with the unlawful possession of drugs at Chapel Lane, Aughrim on October 7, 2011. The court heard gardaí approached a silver Audi car which was parked up with two occupants. On seeing gardaí, Byrne put some cannabis down the front of his trousers and handed a weighing scales to the other person in the car. Gardaí spoke to Byrne who handed over some cannabis weed. The total value of the cannabis was €250.
The court heard he has 23 previous convictions, four of which are related to drugs. Acting for Byrne solicitor David Tarrant looked for an adjournment to allow Byrne work with Teen Challenge and Judge David Kennedy adjourned the case until February 20.
