Local Asthma Society presents defibrillator to Arklow Celtic

Members of the Arklow & District Asthma Society were delighted to present a new public access defibrillator (PAD) to a local sporting club recently.

The presentation took place in the Bridge Hotel and saw Doreen Forde of the Asthma Society hand over the unit to Mark Doyle of Arklow Celtic Football Club.

Funds were raised through the Asthma Society's various community events including their Christmas raffle and coffee morning.

'We are delighted to hand over the defibrillator to the club and that the members will receive training on how to use it,' said Mrs Forde.

Arklow Community First Responders was represented by John Summers and Brian Higgins at the presentation. The First Responders have agreed to train some of the Arklow Celtic members in defibrillator use.

The is the fourth defibrillator that has been provided in the local community by Arklow & District Asthma Society. The other units are at Arklow CBS, Arklow Rocks and Arklow Community College.
