Injured youth rescued from Kanturk Mountain
AN INJURED youth was rescued from Kanturk Mountain on Saturday afternoon.
At 4pm on Saturday the Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal Irish Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team were requested by An Garda Síochána to come to the aid of a male youth who was hillwalking in the area of Kanturk Mountain.
The teams established rescue base close to the Glenmacnass Waterfall, which allowed for quick deployment of MR personnel and specialised MR 4x4 vehicles close to the casualty site. Mountain Rescue medics treated the youth and then stretchered him to a waiting Mountain Rescue 4x4 stretcher capable vehicle on the track.
The MR vehicle transported the casualty to the road where it was met by a HSE ambulance which transferred the casualty to hospital.
This was the first time that the DWMRT have used their new purpose built stretcher capable 4x4 vehicle for a live operation.
