GARDAI ARE expected to carry out a another detailed search for the body of Newbridge teenager Deirdre Jacob in an isolated Wicklow lake.
The initial search which was carried out in early December is understood to have been organised following reports that convicted rapist Larry Murphy allegedly confessed to killing her with a hammer during a drinking session with a fellow prisoner in Arbour Hill.
Local garda sources said they were not aware of the first search prior to it happening but said they later learnt of it.
During the first search members of Operation Trace were assisted by the Garda Sub Aqua Unit.
A second search is planned in the coming weeks.
Eighteen-year-old Deirdre Jacob vanished from the side of the road near her home in Newbridge, Co. Kildare on July 28 1998, two years before Murphy abducted and brutally raped a County Carlow woman in the Wicklow Mountains in February 2000.
