THE BEAUTY of Wicklow was brought home to members of Wicklow County Council last week when Fred Verdier, Wicklow Tourism Development Officer, outlined changes to the tourism website.

He said the website which contains very strong imagery from Wicklow is a key tourism tool and said Facebook is another integral part of its online presence.

He said Wicklow Tourism is keen to work with local communities.

Cllr. Tom Fortune stressed that tourism is one of the biggest economic drivers in the county and urged the management not to impose any more cuts on tourism services in the upcoming budget.

Cllr. Mick Glynn wondered if online booking for Wicklow hotels had been considered and Mr. Verdier said it had been considered but rejected as it was another online booking engine for hotels to work with and as a result had been rejected.

Cllr. John Snell said he would like to see a link on the website linking back to Clarmont Campus and Mr. Verdier said this could be arranged.
