EVENTS DIRECTOR Eric McNulty once again managed to raise over €2,000 through his annual Family Fun Day which took place in Hidden Valley for the Diabetes Federation of Ireland (Wicklow branch).
The day was filled with plenty of fun and entertainment for all.
The duck race involved 500 plastic Ducks being dropped off the bridge. As they made their way down the Avomore top Kayak instructor Gerry McKay was waiting with his team to catch them all and identify the winners.
There was Kayak racing, penalty shoot out, Horse racing (Hobby Horses), Giant Rings, beat the Buzzer, Bonny Baby, Grumpy Grandpa, Goldfish stall, Limbo Dancing, Throwing the Wellie and of course the aptly named 'Monster Raffle' with over 80 prizes.
The Rathdrum fire brigade presented an ideal opportunity for children to explore the machines and have their pictures taken. The award ceremony is always a very special occasion and there were a few tears as parents watched their children stand proudly on the podium receiving their Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals while Amhrán na bhFiann played gently in the background. Eric would like to thank all of those who contributed to making the event a great day. All of the helpers and sponsors without whom the event would not be the success that it has become. The total amount raised this year was €2,028.00 which will be presented to the Chairman of the Wicklow Branch of the Diabetes Federation of Ireland.
