Fair trade at sheep sale in Ashford

ASHFORD Mart Sheep Sale saw a full yard of sheep with 581 sheep on offer and an almost complete clearance.

There were 523 lambs for sale; they met with a fair trade especially for the good factory lambs. These sold generally from 40 - 46 with the weight, with a top price paid of €46 over €1/Kg. These were very nice lambs weighing 50 Kg selling @ €96.

Forward Stores were in demand for further feeding and met with a steady trade making from €35 - 42 with the €1/Kg.

Some prices achieved, 42Kg @ €77 ram lambs, 43Kg wether lambs €81.

The lighter store lambs sold from €44 to €77 with the majority making €35 to €40 with the €1/Kg.

Some prices, 38Kg @ €75 rams, 41Kg @ €80 rams, 43Kg ewe lambs @ €84.

Cast ewes sold well, with the heavy ewes meeting a strong trade selling from €53 to €73. Good feeding ewes sold @ €10 - 37 for the lighter types and €53 - 60 for the more forward ewes.
