Cyclist trapped under a bus on the N81

Blessington man taken to hospital

A Blessington cyclist sustained serious arm injuries following a collision with a bus on Friday evening where he became trapped under the front passenger side of the vehicle.

The incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. at Burgage, southbound on the N81.

The local man who is aged in forties was involved in a collision with the number 65 Dublin Bus. Emergency services, including the Fire Brigade, attended the scene to free the injured man, who was quickly transferred to Naas Hospital. Due to the serious nature of the crash, it took some time to free the man, who received medical attention at the roadside. He was reported to be in a serious condition and underwent surgery.

Following the incident, the scene was assessed by the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit and the bus was taken away for examination.
