Award is a huge boost for tourism

WICKLOW'S first place finish and Gold Medal status in the 2012 Livcom Awards for most liveable community could provide a huge boost in overseas tourists visiting the county.

The awards attracted entries from across the globe and over 30 countries participated in the finals.

Tom Fortune, Chairman of Wicklow County Tourism, says the Garden County can only benefit from Wicklow's performance at the awards. 'We are delighted and extremely proud of the job done by the team that went to Al Ain to present our beautiful County. We shouldn't underestimate the importance and benefits of such achievement.'

Included in the presentation was a stunning film that showcased the connection between Wicklow's amazing landscape and its people. Two days after going online, this film already counted more than 3,000 views.

' The magnificence of Wicklow's Landscape is only matched by the warmth of the people It is what makes us one of the most liveable places to live, work and visit in the world' says Gráinne McLoughlin, project coordinator.
