Two free electrical and battery recycling events

Published 09/08/2014 | 00:00

THERE will be two free electrical and battery recycling events in Co. Wicklow next Saturday, August 9, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The events, organised by WEEE Ireland, will take place at the Church of Ireland in Dunlavin and Tesco in Greystones and will allow people to get rid of any household electrical equipment and batteries.

Anything in the home with a battery or a plug can be recycled at the collection.

WEEE Ireland waste collection specialists will be present to help the public send their toasters, vacuum cleaners, fridges and other electrical items to a better place.

As a consumer of electrical items, you are entitled to bring your waste electrical equipment to your electrical retailer when purchasing an item of similar type. Waste batteries can be brought back to any battery retailer that sells similar batteries, even if you don't purchase anything. WEEE and waste batteries can also be brought to your local civic amenity site free of charge. For further information or to find your nearest civic amenity site, visit recyclefree.ie.
