ENROLMENT / OPEN EVENING
Scoil Chonglais enrolment night will take place on Tuesday 27th November at 7pm. Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to enrol their children for the 2012 / 2013 on that evening and obtain information about the school.
On Thursday the 8th of November a study skills seminar called "Learn 2 Learn 4 beginners" took place in Scoil Chonglais for first year students. The aim of this seminar was to enhance the learning skills of students by teaching them important learning techniques including mind mapping, memory techniques and speed reading. A parent's seminar also took place in the school for parents of 1st, 2nd and 5th year students on the evening of Tuesday 13th. The parents were provided with information on how to assist and support their child in the use of these learning techniques.
The third annual Scoil Chonglais fashion show took place in Germaines of Baltinglass on Thursday 15th November. It was a great night of fashion and entertainment. Thanks to all who supported this fundraising event and a special word of thanks to the event coordinator Dorothy Fox and all parents, staff and students who made this such a successful and enjoyable night.
On Thursday 15th November forty 5th and 6th year students attended a seminar "Buntaisti Breise sa Gaeilge" in Kilashee house Co Kildare. This seminar was attened by 8 schools from the Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow area. A number a well known personalities from media and public life highlighted how their professional lives have benefited from having a knowledge of the Irish language. Having taken part in a forum Leaving Cert student John Connolly was awarded first prize for the best question and he was presented with a €400 voucher towards a gaeltacht summer course, congratulations to John on his achievement.
NUI MAYNOOTH SCHOLARSHIP
Congratulations to past pupil Bronagh Murphy who recently received an Entrance Scholarship Award to NUI Maynooth. The scholarship is awarded to students who receive points in excess of 500 points in their Leaving Certificate Examination. Bronagh has just commenced her studies in Science Education and we wish her every success in the future.
