FOLLOWING A meeting with members of Arklow Town Council about changes to the commercial Route 2, Bus Éireann has clarified what buses serve the town and county.
Mr. Joe Kenny outlined to members that while the rural bus stops including those at Jack Whites and The Beehive have been cute from Route 2 they are still in use by the remaining non-commercial bus services.
Following the changes Route 2/X2 serve bus stops at Knockmore and Main Street, Arklow while Route 5, 133 and 384 continue to serve stops in Knockmore, Lidl, Main Street, Ferrybank and Templerainey.
Confusion arose amongst passengers last week when a number of bus stops were covered with black bags leading the public to believe that they were completely out of use.
The meeting also drew concerns from councillors that some passengers had been left behind due at certain stops. Mr. Kenny refuted this and advised passengers to refer specific incidents to his office so they can be investigated. Mayor of Arklow Peter Dempsey told The Wicklow People that he will pass on complaints for local residents if they wish.
