The Aughrim-based band, which has 17 members at present, including current Pipe Major James Byrne, gratefully accepted a cheque for €1,475, which was collected at the centre, from the Manager Myles Doyle and his staff.

As a result of the donation, the band, whose members range in age from ten to 60, will be putting plans in place to travel to Birmingham next March for the St. Patrick's Day Parade, which is one of the largest parades in the world.

Denis Newsome and Mick O'Brien from the band attended Avoca Recycling Centre to accept the donation.
