WICKLOW MUSICIANS Courtney, Lottie, Katie and Kelly Cullen and singer Rebecca Winckworth of Perfect Friction are set to perform at the internationally renowned Trad Festival in Dublin this January.
Now in its eighth year, Temple Bar TradFest is a firm favourite on the festival calendar and brings to Dublin City Centre a real celebration of Irish music and culture each January.
Each year one of the Festival highlights is the outdoor stages which are set up in the streets of Temple Bar and where many well known and rising musicians perform.
This year Perfect Friction an exciting, fresh group of young musicians who came together through playing at WicklowTrad sessions in Wicklow Town will perform on Saturday, January 26 at 5.20pm on the headline stage on East Essex Street.
Five of the band, musicians Courtney, Lottie, Katie and Kelly Cullen and world-class vocalist, Rebecca Winckworth who has toured extensively with Anúna among other groups, hail from Newcastle Co Wicklow.
Their music ranges from high-energy trad sets with a full range of instruments (fiddle, flute, uilleann pipes, concertina, accordion, whistle, bodhran, guitar, piano), to pop and rock songs tastefully arranged with a trad theme.
The musicians, all from Wicklow, Dublin and Wexford, include four All- Ireland champions and collectively they deliver a sound that will have your foot tapping and will leave you wondering what the magic ingredient is.
The 2013 festival has been extended to 6 days and 6 nights (from 22 -27 Jan) and the Festival line up will include headline concerts, over 200 free events, music trail, singers club, open sessions, two outdoor stages, the international Celtic Irish Dance Show, master classes and showcases, gigs for kids, children's club, cultural workshops, pipe bands and street performers.
